The Face Shop Natural Sun Eco Products Review!

It was so lovely to get invited to a cozy get together with the ladies of The Face Shop to get introduced to the new and improved Natural Sun Eco range! I’ve heard quite a lot about it from TFS sales assistants prior to this event and they all told me that this range is really good for sun protection!

This power long lasting suncream of SPF45 is most ideal for skin types that are dry or dehydrated. Compared with the rest of the range, this sun care product is the most emollient in texture and leaves the skin feeling soft and hydrated. Combination to oily skin types might not enjoy this product as much but if your skin is already sun burnt, you may go ahead with this product as it’s made of many natural ingredients that won;t further irritate the skin. It isn’t 100% natural or organic due to the sun protection compounds used, but compared with other cheap drug store sun care products, this suncream spf45 is much better in terms of texture and formula. You’ll know when you give it a swatch at the store :)

See what i mean? :) Pretty soft, slightly dewy skin after rubbing the sun cream in!

I love this smart cushion compact! this is NOT a makeup product, this is a SUN CARE product, meaning that this is mainly to give your skin sun protection, not so much of a thicker coverage as what a makeup product would do for you. One amazing thing about this product is that it goes on smoothly on the skin with the sponge given in the compact, and it doesn’t make the skin appear greasy at all! I layer this under my matte or dewy foundations to up the SPF levels, and gosh, this has seen me through 16 hours at sentosa with just 1 touch up and 14 hours in school with barely any touch ups. For ladies who want fuss free sun care, do keep this product in mind! :)

This product is refillable too!

The Smim total treatment essence shown here is a PRE-toner step, meaning that it goes like this:

cleanser – THIS PRODUCT – toner – serum – moisturiser

This product helps to further remove debris on the skin to prep for maximum skincare ingredient absorption in the later steps. I can’t emphasise how important such products are because I’ve seen an improvement in my skin just by using pre-toning products like this. I’m not head over heels over this product but when I do head to Korea in June, I’ll pick this up as a skincare backup for the dry season otw to Vegas :)

In an independent clinical study, women applied fluorescent makeup to their forehead (to show residue under UV

light). Using cleanser, they washed one side by hand and the other side using Mary Kay® Skinvigorate™ Cleansing

Brush for the same length of time. Afterward, the women were satisfied they had washed all of the makeup off and

saw no color remaining on their forehead. The results below show under ultraviolet light that the Skinvigorate™

Cleansing Brush side is clearly cleaner.

This lightweight, two-speed power brush gently massages as it thoroughly cleans skin, removing residue, dirt and

makeup in seconds. It allows your skin care products to absorb better and more quickly and helps maximize the

instant hydration benefits of your moisturizer. Just a push of a button switches from a lower speed to higher —

reaching over 400 rotations per minute. Both speeds provide gentle massaging yet deep cleansing. From the first day,

you’ll notice a difference. And with continued use, the rotating action helps polish away the look of past skin damage

for a more even-looking complexion. The appearance of lines and wrinkles is softened and pores appear smaller. Skin

is invigorated, revealing its youthful vibrancy.

Here’s what women of all ages — from 13 to 70 — said about the Skinvigorate™ Cleansing Brush in an independent

consumer study*:

 Maximizes my skin care benefits: 97%

 Transforms dull skin into a radiant complexion: 94%

 Provides a more even-looking skin tone: 96%

 Reveals youthful-looking skin: 93%

 Skin feels softer, smoother and healthier: 95%

*Results reflect the percentage of women who agreed with the statements in a three-week independent consumer

 You want to “power up” the benefits of your skin care products and experience better makeup removal and

better product absorption.

 You want to enjoy a more even-looking skin tone and minimize the appearance of pores.

 You want the feel of an at home spa facial every day.

 You want to reveal youthful-looking skin and soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles.

 Dermatologist-tested

 Tested on and suitable for daily use on Asian skin, even sensitive skin and acne-prone skin.

 Clinically tested for skin irritancy

 Waterproof (not recommended to submerge in water)

 Battery-powered (2 AA batteries)

 Two brush heads included (it is recommended to replace brush heads every three months)

Comparing Mary Kay Skinvigorate Cleansing Brush against Olay Regenerist Cleansing Brush:

  1. Softer brush bristles
  2. Comes with additional cleansing brush replacement
  3. Cream cleansers foam up much better with the softer bristles
  4. Lighter than the Olay one
  5. Packaging is pink instead of Olay’s grey buttons, feminine addition to your skincare counter stash!
  6. Better for sensitive skin, as the bristles don’t drag against and scrub too roughly against the skin as compared to Olay’s
  7. Though S$39-$42 more expensive than Olay’s, you do get a better quality cleansing tool and it works out to be roughly the same price when you do purchase the Olay refill cleansing brush packs.

Here’s a photo of me 3 weeks into using the 2 products mentioned above! I used the light to medium one and the cleansing brush at the fastest speed once a day with Kiehl’s cleanser all over my face for half a minute. I only have a light layer of foundation mixed with the CC cream on and the mixture fits my sun-kissed complexion perfectly! I’ve been working at Sentosa, thus the darker complexion. This makeup look lasted for more than 16 hours without looking greasy or patchy. Skin was still in good condition after the deep cleansing with the cleansing brush.I’m all ready for summer now! ^^

Formulated with silicon oil and silky powder ingredients, together with Airy-Fit Technology, the liquid type lipstick features an ultra-lightweight and smooth texture which makes you feel as if you are not wearing any lippie at all. Available in seven stunning hues, each Color Lips-fit is highly pigmented and long-lasting, giving one a matte finish. This collection also includes a dual-function clear gloss which can be used as a base coat or top coat. As a base coat, it works as a lip primer to protect and moisturize the lips with its infused Vitamin E prior to applying Color Lips-fit. As a top coat, the clear gloss enhances the vibrancy of Color Lips-fit and gives the pouts a sparkly finish. With just one stroke, this new Color Lips-fit range allows every lady to look pretty like the K-Pop stars! Price: S$15.00 each. Available at Etude House Singapore stores from 15 March 2014.

I got two colours, Fantasy Fit Pink and See-Thru Fit Beige :) Here’re the swatches for your reference! :)

Gotta love the angled lip applicator! It makes the application so much easier! Each withdrawal of the wand carries sufficient product for two swipes across the lips :)

Aren’t the colours pretty?? ^^ I like Fantasy Pink more since it’s spring now and bright lips are really trendy for Spring makeup looks!!

Face Conditioning Cream
Simplify your skin preparation routine and maximise your makeup result with Etude House Face Conditioning Cream which preps the skin to makeup-ready condition in just one simple step! With the amalgamation of whitening, anti-wrinkle and sunscreen (SPF25/PA++) properties, this 3-in-1 Face Conditioning Cream, which is suitable for all skin types, helps to achieve flawless light makeup that allows the skin to breathe and keeps it looking great throughout the day. Price: S$19.90 each. Available at Etude House Singapore stores from 04 March 2014.

For the Face Conditioning cream, it’s kinda like a two-in-one skincare step since it’s got moisturising and sun protection properties. It makes the skin feel smooth and supple, and most importantly, BRIGHTER as you can see in the second photo! :)

Every Month Cleansing Foam
Keep skin woes at bay with Etude House’s newest innovative and effective Every Month Cleansing Foam, a collection of 12 different facial cleansers, specially infused with various botanical ingredients, such as pomegranate, blueberry and red wine (just to name a few), aimed at combating different skin concerns and climate conditions. Available in three textures, namely fresh cream, moist pearl cream and moist gel, its ultra smooth and delicate foam effectively removes impurities, dissolves pore sebum, and rejuvenates the skin, leaving the skin feeling soft and supple. Price: S$6.00 each. Available at Etude House Singapore stores from 19 March 2014.

I squeezed out a portion swatch for all interested beauty friends out there :) It’s in the order of 1, 3, 4 and 7 from the top to bottom. My favourite is 7 because the aloe vera gel makes my skin appear less red with continued use. I’ve been working at Sentosa lately, so the sun’s been making my skin more sensitive than usual. I really do like the number 1 as well, as it foams up to a very thick, fluffy and smooth foam! ^^ I love foamy cleansers especially with my Olay skin cleansing brush tool! ^^ last of all, $6 each?! It’s really affordable! I love the cute and simple packaging too! Matches my macaron themed skincare stash~

from left to right : Innocent, Delicate, Blossom Bright and Wild Lace

Innocent is now my favourite nude lipstick in my entire lipstick collection because it doesn’t wash me out like MAC’s popular shade, Cremecup, and adheres to my lips all day until I eat or drink something. It’s a soft coral nude colour which will look very pretty on any asian skin tone. It’s got a very slight pink tinge to it, which makes the colour very wearable for everyday makeup! :)

Delicate. Oh my, this colour couldn’t be named more aptly. It is a very feminine coral shade that photographs very well on camera and makes any makeup look seem very classy and lady-like in real life. I like that it looks slightly light on camera due to the sheen of these creamy lipsticks, but is actually much brighter (as seen in the swatches) in real life. I’ve been wearing this rather often too with baby blue dresses and formal pencil skirts. A very elegant shade for the everyday office lady.

I chose Blossom Bright because I knew that the blue undertones in it would make my teeth seem whiter than it really is ^^ always a plus point in a bright coral red lippie! I whip out this lip colour whenever I’m wearing bright red tops because it makes my skin appear fairer, especially when I wear this lip colour at evening events. It’s a great alternative for the typical hollywood red lipsticks which may seem a little too matured for ladies who’re in their early twenties like I am. It’s got a pink hue to the coral red colour, so it brightens up the face instantly :)

Honestly, I was putting my makeup skills to the test when I opted for Wild Lace in my selection of lippies from this collection. It looks very intimidating in the tube, but hey, IT LOOKS SO GOOD ON THE LIPS! I have naturally very pigmented lips, so when I apply anything of a purple hue to my lips, it creates a very unique shade of pinkish mauve that isn’t brownish or matured at all. It’s more of a wilder lip colour look than what I usually wear though. A girls’ fun night out will be the perfect occasion to rock this lip colour and I’m certainly looking forward to taking this along with me to those fun parties ^^

Overall, I am really in love with this collection of lipsticks! Sure, it may be slightly pricey at SGD45 instead of the usual 30odd that we are used to paying for a lipstick here in Singapore but considering the sleek magnetic lipstick closure and comfort of wear, these lipsticks are worth checking out. They’re quite pigmented and will reach full coverage upon the 2nd swipe across the lips. These lipsticks look so classy in my handbag and it felts very sturdy and expensive as it’s got a substantial weight to it. Do try it out at the Estee Lauder counters when it launches in April 2014! :)

Etude House Chocolate Kiss Valentine’s Day Collection 2014

Thank you Etude House Singapore for all the love and beautiful bouquet of pink roses! I was such a happy girl at home with all the makeup goodies and pretty flowers!

this is the So Hot Play Palette! Can I say that I’m loving the maroon colour so much that i’ve been using it almost everyday for my eye makeup?! The vibrant red is a beautiful transition colour to use under a matte brown colour to inject warm tones into the eye makeup look. The trick is to pair it with a warm brown, this way, the browns won’t look so stark in photos :) The darker shades in this palette make it ideal for anyone who’s looking to do a simple classic red lip for this Valentine’s Day season :) I do prefer this palette over the other as I’m currently into bolder, smokier eye makeup trends!

swatches for the So Chic Play Palette. I tend to gravitate to this palette when I’m hoping to go for a shimmery smokey night time look for my eye makeup. The eye shadows are of decent quality but I personally feel that the formula of the shimmery colours are smoother than the matte ones. These swatches are applied on my bare skin without any primer. The shimmery colours are very outstanding on photos, so use them strategically at the middle portion of the lid and the tear duct area to make those beautiful eyes sparkle :)

Lip gloss and Lip Tints in Pink Kiss and Peach Kiss. My favourite is the Peach Kiss series because they smell EXACTLY like sweet peaches! I’ve been using both lip tint balms almost everyday for school because they moisturise my lips and give a natural sweet hue that brightens up my complexion. I ain’t much of a gloss girl so I shared the glosses with my good friends! Each colour comes in a set of a gloss and tint balm :D

I’ve used a mix of colours mainly from the So Hot Play Palette. As for the lips, I only have the lip tint balm in Pink Kiss! It’s a very moisturising lip tint that is convenient to apply and has great colour payoff for balm-like tint. The trick to working lots of pinks on the face is to vary the intensity and hues of pink. For the eyes, opt for the maroon colour for eye lining and a mix of purples and pinks for the lid area. The transition of the hues of pink will create an illusion of wider looking eyes without making it seem like you’re trying too hard with the pinks! Also, keep the cheeks looking chic by opting for a LIGHT pink blush with a little bit of pearl iridescence. This will give you glowing youthful cheeks! :) For lips wise, stick with something simple like a lip tint to keep the whole makeup look looking fresh and radiant :)

my nails for Chinese New Year! <3 the top two are the colours in Mint Green and Choco Brown, the bottom two colours are Baby Yellow (I LOVE THIS SUNSHINE YELLOW!) and Foxy Pink! the nail art stickers came with the two pairs of nail polishes and they adhere to the nails very very well. These that you see are day 4 nails after spring cleaning and a lot of laundry washing in prep for the new year. cheers to great quality nail polish!

my nails for Chinese New Year!

this collection is a limited edition one and is currently sold at all Etude House outlets island wide :)
